On Jan 2, Sensex rose by 573.41 points to 85,762.01, and the Nifty gained 182 points to reach 26,328.55. A total of 2,527 shares advanced, 1,347 shares declined, and 135 shares remained unchanged.
Top Nifty gainers: Coal India, NTPC, Hindalco, Trent, Jio Financial
Top Nifty Losers : ITC, Nestle, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Shriram Finance.
Except FMCG, all other sectoral indices ended in the green with auto, metal, realty, consumer durables, power ,PSU up 1% each.
BSE midcap index added 1% and smallcap index rose nearly 1%.

After breaking above the downward-sloping trendline on the daily chart, Bank Nifty extended its upward move and touched a fresh all-time high of 60,204. The price action remains well supported by strong momentum indicators. The RSI continues to stay above 60, DI+ has moved above DI− on the ADX indicator, and the MACD line has crossed above the signal line, reinforcing the prevailing bullish structure.
Resistance is placed in the 60,300–60,600 range, while support is seen between 60,000 and 59,500.
