Companies Involved in Successful Launch Of ISRO’s Missions

L&T’s contributions included manufacturing booster segments, head end, middle segment, and a 3.2-meter diameter nozzle bucket flange at their Powai facility, as well as producing ground and flight umbilical plates, deck panels, and various hardware systems for the Chandrayaan mission.

Hindustan Aeronautics

ISRO has formed a partnership with HAL, which specializes in providing light alloy structures and has actively contributed to both satellite and launch vehicle structures, spanning from Aryabhata to Chandrayaan 2, thus being integral to nearly all satellite missions. HAL is vital for launch vehicle engines and aims to expand facilities for PSLV and GSLV stage integration, bolstering India’s space progress. MTAR Technologies Private Limited

For over three decades, MTAR has been a steadfast partner with ISRO, providing a wide array of mission-critical components for various space missions. Specifically, MTAR manufactures liquid propulsion engines, cryogenic engines (including turbo pumps, booster pumps, gas generators, and injector heads), as well as electro-pneumatic modules essential for space launch vehicles. Notable contributions include supplying the engine for PSLV-C25, which launched the Mars Orbiter Mission Spacecraft as part of the Mangalyaan mission, and more recently, providing the engine for PSLV-C49, which successfully deployed the EOS-01, an earth observation satellite. MTAR’s pivotal role extends to the GSLV Mark III engine used in the Chandrayaan II mission.

Walchand Industries Limited

Pune-based Walchandnagar Industries Limited (WIL) takes immense pride in its pivotal role in the Chandrayaan 3 mission, where it collaborated closely with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). WIL’s exclusive facility was responsible for manufacturing and conducting critical proof pressure tests on the S200 booster segments, specifically the head end, middle, and nozzle end segments, which played a vital role in the LVM3 launch vehicle for Chandrayaan 3. Additionally, WIL also contributed to other key subsystems such as Flex nozzle control tankages and S200 Flex nozzle, reaffirming its essential role in India’s space exploration efforts.

Bharat Heavy Electricals

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has achieved a significant milestone by manufacturing and supplying Space Grade Solar Panels to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for their inaugural satellite export project with EADS-Astrium of Europe. The satellite, equipped with BHEL’s Solar Panels, was launched successfully via the European Ariane-5 launch vehicle in French Guyana. This state-of-the-art communication satellite, named W2M, incorporates five BHEL-fabricated Solar Panels featuring high-efficiency Advanced Triple Junction Solar Cells, collectively covering an area of 26.5 sq. m. These Solar Panels have been performing admirably, earning ISRO’s commendation for their successful fabrication and timely supply in accordance with their specifications.
