NSE has shifted Bank Nifty weekly options Expiry on Wednesday

Starting 4th Sep, NSE moved the weekly expiry day for Bank Nifty futures and options from Thursday to Wednesday

The NSE announced a change in the weekly expiry day for Bank Nifty futures and options contracts, without specifying the new day. From September 04, 2023, the Bank Nifty will shift its weekly index options expiry day from Thursday to Wednesday. Consequently, the first Wednesday weekly expiry will take place on September 06, 2023.

Bank Nifty F&O Expiry Day Change

Starting from September 04, 2023, the Bank Nifty will change its futures and options (F&O) expiry day from Thursday to Wednesday. This modification will come into effect on September 04, 2023, Monday, and all current weekly contracts with Thursday expiry will be adjusted to Wednesday, September 01, 2023, by the end of the trading day. Subsequently, the first Wednesday’s weekly expiry will occur on September 06, 2023. It’s important to note that this alteration in the expiry day does not impact the trading cycle of the Bank Nifty. It will continue to have four weekly expiration contracts (excluding monthly contracts), three monthly expiration contracts, and three quarterly expiry cycles (March, June, September, and December cycle).

Nifty Midcap Select F&O Expiry Day Change

By August 16, 2023, the expiry and maturity date for all Nifty Midcap Select futures and options contracts will shift to Monday. This means that they will bring forward the existing contract, which was originally scheduled to mature on August 23, 2023 (Wednesday), to August 21, 2023 (Monday). Consequently, the first Monday expiry for Nifty Midcap Select contracts will take place on August 21, 2023. August 16, 2023 expiry cycle remains unchanged, occurring on Wednesday as scheduled.

NSE recently canceled its plan to change the expiry day of Nifty Bank derivative contracts from Thursday to Friday. BSE made this decision in response to a request. They expected the first Friday expiry to occur on July 14. Alteration would have led to four weekly expiry dates at NSE: Nifty Financial Services (Tuesday), Nifty Midcap Select (Wednesday), Nifty 50 (Thursday), and Nifty Bank (Friday). Due to plan cancellation, Nifty Bank derivative contracts’ expiry day will remain unchanged as Thursday.
